Scripture Sunday

Today, we lit the second candle in our wreath as we continue celebrate Jesus and his life. We have been reading scripture every day starting last week with the birth of Jesus. We read a little bit about his life and ministry each day. Today we read about the woman at the well and I was overcome with gratitude for his love for everyone. I am thankful that God thought to provide examples that show that Jesus is for everyone including me. It makes me even more excited to celebrate this child who was born to save us all.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulders and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, the everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

This is one of my favorite Christmas verses and it seems even more special when I consider it was written 700 years before Jesus was born. It was a message of hope to a people who were about to be conquered by a neighboring country. It was an announcement meant to get God’s people excited and it has me excited today.

I am thankful that my Savior was born, died for our sins, and rose again. He fulfills all of his names. He is my Wonderful Counsellor giving me all the wisdom I could ever want. He is a mighty God with divine strength and power to meet all my needs and prayer concerns. Jesus is my everlasting Father always showing his eternal care and love for us. Finally, he is the Prince of Peace bringing me peace in my life whenever I cry out to him and ask for it.

What is your favorite Christmas verse? Please share in the comments.

Until next time,
