For the next four weeks, I will be doing interviews with book characters! Now, as you have probably already guessed, they will be with The Penderwick sisters, from the series, The Penderwicks, written by Jeanne Birdsall, starting with Skye.
Welcome, Skye! How are you today?
Alright, but Jane, she’s my sister, is being so annoying. She keeps quoting lines from Sabrina Star, that’s the book series she is writing.
Sorry to hear about your siblings annoying you- I am very familiar with siblings having 7 of my own- 3 of them sisters. However, I am probably the annoying author sister although I do not quote lines from my books yet.
So I gather Jane is an author, do you like to write?
I do not like to write unless it is a science report.
What is your favorite sport?
Soccer! Jane and I are on the same team. And this year, I was elected captain.
Soccer is amazing! I play also. How long have you been playing?
Since I was seven.
What is your favorite subject in school?
Science. No, Math. Probably math. Wait! Maybe science. I can’t decide.
What is your least favorite subject?
English or History. One time, I had to write a play- a play can you imagine assigning that to a student? Anyways, not just any old play but it had to be based on the Aztecs. Well, Jane was sitting at her desk stumped by a science paper she had to write so we switched. As you may have guessed, we did not get away with it.
What is your favorite color?
Blue. Always has been always will be.
Can you tell me more about your family? How many siblings do you have? Do you have any pets?
Sure, I have three sisters, Rosalind, she’s the oldest, then I’m next, Jane’s a year younger than me, and Batty is the youngest. Yeah, we have a dog, named Hound.
What was the best thing that happened to you, in the past year?
Last summer at Arendale definitely tops the charts. Our vacation at Arendale was the best time I ever had. My dad rented a house for 3 weeks and it was just amazing. Jane and I made a new best friend, Jeffery- and it was life-changing having a boy for a friend when you spend all your time with three sisters. We played some amazing soccer, got into lots of trouble, and had some wonderful snacks made by Churchie, Jeffrey’s housekeeper.
It was so nice to get to know you better Skye. Thank you for your time!
If you would like to get to know Skye or any of the Penderwicks better, I suggest you start with their first book, The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy
I hope you enjoyed reading my interview with Skye! Stay tuned for next week’s interview with Jane Penderwick!
Until next time,
