Three Things Friday!

Hello friends!

Today’s post is Three Things Friday! With the topic of my books, specifically my favorite books. This is going to be hard to narrow down since I am constantly reading and finding new favorites. So, here are the three that I decided on.

  1. The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom.

I only read this book for the first time last week and I don’t know why I never read it before. It was so so good. And so inspiring! I loved Betsy’s outlook on life, how she always just kept going. Same with Corrie’s but Betsy personality really touched me.

My favorite quote: “There are no “ifs” in God’s world.”
  2. The Penderwicks on Gardam Street by Jeanne Birdsall.

This one is hard was a hard decison. I wanted to include one Penderwick book, but I wasn’t sure which one. I love all of them so much! Finally, I decided on the second, The Penderwicks on Gardam Street because of how funny it is. In this book, especially, you can really feel how close the sisters are. That was one thing I specifically enjoyed about it. My siblings and I are all very close, so that reminded me of my siblings.

Favorite Quote: “Even a tiny bit of deceit is dishonorable when it’s used for selfish or cowardly reasons.”
  3. The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare

My mom first read this book to me in third-grade, and I loved it! Ever since then, I have read it at least once every year, sometimes twice. (If you haven’t noticed by now, I love to re-read books. Why read something only once?) I really enjoyed reading this one, the story is set in 1678, and I haven’t read very many books in that time-period, which made it interesting to see what life was like back then.

Favorite Quote: “People are afraid of things they don’t understand.”

And there are my three favorite books for three things Friday! What are your favorite books?

Thank you for reading!

Until next time,

  1. Good morning Pearl! I just read this aloud to Grandpa and we both enjoyed it. Now I would like to read the books I’ve not read-I read The Hiding Place many, many years ago! Hope you have a great Friday!

  2. I also love to read! It is apparently genetic! As you well know, I recommended The Hiding Place to you and I am glad you enjoyed it! I have not read any Penderwicks after the first book, but I have listened to bits and pieces of it on Audible. I remember reading The Witch of Blackbird Pond when I was in school and have read it multiple times since then. I do not like rereading books as much as you do, but I will unselfishly reread a good book aloud to you kids so I can share it with you kids. Thank you for sharing this list!
